The perspective from up north (Updated)
I received an interesting email today from my old classmate Tim Kerr. In it he shares a link to the following YouTube video published by a conservative Canadian site which is a capture of Brit Hume's "Special Report" correcting the record on who sounded the alarm on problem financial system practices, and when that alarm was sounded (hint: it preceded our current financial meltdown). Of course, his email expresses concern that Fox News has, and will again, get the video removed from YouTube for copyright violations. Perhaps if this video is removed cruising through Hulu's Fox News postings will lead you to the same story. In the meanwhile I'm tired, so I'm just going to embed the original YouTube video for your consideration:
UPDATE: Just in case some readers think my sources for the above are too right-leaning, I'm providing another more liberal (but equally favored & reliable) source: the Planet Money team at National Public Radio. Read & listen to David Kestenbaum's article about Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis colleagues Gary Stern and Ron Feldman's warnings. Their book “Too Big to Fail: The Hazards of Bank Bailouts” was first published in 2004, but stemmed from concerns raised years prior.
